Introduction
Jumble App is a search engine to help you find thrift events, physical thrift stores, and that perfect piece of vintage or secondhand clothing. We process some personal information for the purpose of providing the service to you, understanding our business, and improving the service.
Please give this Privacy Policy a good read – it’s important to us that you understand how we use your personal information, and how you have control over it. This policy applies to visitors and registered users (collectively, “Users”) at our website and on our mobile app (together referred to as “Jumble App” or “Jumble Service”).

Jumble App processes your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and any applicable data protection regulations.
Third Party Websites
Because Jumble App functions as a search engine, users may be directed to third party websites where event and store information is shown, and clothing items are listed and available for purchase. Jumble App does not have any control over those websites or their privacy practices. We strongly recommend that you read the privacy policies of any third party websites before providing them with your personal information. Jumble App expressly disclaims any responsibility for the privacy practices of third party websites linked from Jumble Service.
Personal Information You Provide
You can use basic Jumble Service functionality without providing any personal information. To use features that require authentication or email communication, you will need to provide the following:

Usage Information We Collect
Log Data
Whether you use Jumble App with or without an account, we may collect information such as page and app views, visits, referring web pages, search queries, and actions taken. We make a reasonable effort to anonymise your Internet Protocol (IP) address to avoid pinpointing your exact location, but we do use general country and city-level location data.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser or mobile app which can be set and read by an online service. Jumble App uses cookies to:
- Keep you logged in (unless you choose to log out)
- Remember user interface preferences, such as preferred currency and display settings
- Route your requests to the correct server
- Collect user behaviour metrics, including unique users and retention rates
You can manage your cookies in your web browser’s settings. To prevent analytics tracking, you can block cookies in your browser or install a relevant browser extension.
Device Data
We also collect information about your device, including device model, operating system, app version, push notification token, performance data, and crash and error logs. This information helps us improve your experience and resolve technical issues promptly.
How We Use Your Information
Account
To provide features that require authentication. For example, saving products, saved searches, search history, image search, and settings all require an account to function correctly.
Analytics
To understand how Jumble App is being used, assess our business performance, and improve the service. We also use analytics to identify and resolve technical issues.
Newsletter
To deliver Jumble Stories and other editorial content by email, where you have opted in to receive these.
Email Communication
To send you transactional and service emails, for example to verify your email address, enable passwordless login, or notify you about new listings matching your saved searches.
Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications for saved searches, we deliver alerts about new listings using a unique token for the app installed on your device.
Transmission to Data Processors
We share personal information with our Data Processors (also referred to as “Operators” under POPIA) in the following manner:
- Google Analytics – We use Google Analytics to better understand how Jumble App is used. We limit what we share with Google to what is needed for our analytical purposes, and we do not participate in advertising networks or voluntary Google product sharing programmes.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging – We use FCM to deliver push notifications to the app installed on your device.
- Amazon Web Services – We use AWS for hosting and infrastructure services.
In addition:
- Some product images in search results may be loaded directly from third party websites that host the actual product pages; these websites may collect data related to how their images are loaded.
- We may share limited information with third party companies or individuals that process information on our behalf, subject to appropriate data processing agreements.
- We may share information if required to do so by law, including under South African law or court order.
Storage of Data & International Data Transfers
The data we collect from you may be stored and processed outside of South Africa, including in the United States, where our infrastructure and service providers are based. By using Jumble Service, you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in those jurisdictions, in accordance with the provisions of POPIA relating to cross-border transfers of personal information.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that any international transfers of your personal information are subject to appropriate safeguards.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to serve the purposes described in this policy. For example, if you choose to delete your account or unsubscribe from our newsletter, we delete your information from our main database immediately. Due to backup processes, it may take up to 70 days for your information to be fully removed from all of our systems.
How You Can Access and Control Your Information
Under POPIA and applicable data protection law, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to request access to the personal information we hold about you. You can view your account data by logging in and navigating to Settings > Account.
- The right to object to the collection or continued processing of your personal information. You may delete your account at any time, which will delete all associated account data.
- The right to request correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal information. You can edit or delete your account data directly in the app.
- The right to data portability – to obtain a copy of the personal information you have provided to us, and to have it transferred to another responsible party where technically feasible. You can export your data in Settings > Account.

Children & Minors
Jumble App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any individual under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information and any associated account without delay.
Updates and Changes to This Privacy Policy
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly. The Effective Date at the top of this document reflects the date of the most recent update. If we materially change the ways in which we collect or use your personal information, we will notify registered users by email.
